The life we have allows us to face opportunities and the challenge of bringing our desires to life. This means making decisions, which ultimately translate into actions, where we show the value of who we are.

This magazine represents the longing of the generations that today occupy spaces where decisions are made. It is a position that often leads us to confront our ideas and recognize who we truly are, understanding that the perspective from which the world sees us is often different from the image we project from within. With these words, I seek to invite you to reflect for a moment and look at who you are; to ask yourself whether you are truly where you want to be, or merely where you are able to be.

A thousand ideas come to mind as I bring together the content of this magazine. The memories and events of our past represent a fundamental part of who we are; and although what lies ahead is uncertain, it is from those experiences that we nourish our future. In this way, we can become anything we desire; it is enough simply to want it for the series of necessary elements to begin appearing.

Years ago, I watched my mentor, Ernesto Iniesta, always present himself as joyful and determined, with that touch of mischief he shared with those of us who were proud to call ourselves his friends. This leads me to reflect on what I learned from him: how to cultivate empathy, how to offer the trust needed to be heard, and above all, how to transmit knowledge. Today, from a distance, his memory remains joyful and inspiring, and I keep his final piece of advice close: “always conduct yourself as a professional.”

With this, we would like to invite you to immerse yourselves in the fascinating world of energy, guided by the team behind LNG MÉXICO Y LATINOAMÉRICA.

We are convinced that our content will captivate you from beginning to end, as it has been designed from a holistic perspective that promotes a human-centered vision. Each of our sections communicates the passion that defines us as Latinos; in this way, we seek for our community to develop a solid and comprehensive view of the Liquefied Natural Gas value chain.

We will explore geopolitics, trade, and new project developments ranging from Mexico to Argentina. We will travel through each of the countries that make up Latin America to learn, to name a few examples, about Peru’s journey in LNG, the history and growth of Colombia, the commercial dynamism of Panama, and the immense potential of the Caribbean and Brazil. We will delve into these and other fascinating territories until we reach the core where LNG professionals are trained and developed.

Many years ago, I saw a flare burner on an offshore platform for the first time, releasing millions of cubic feet; it was night, and the sea shone under the imposing flame. That image was etched into my memory: at that time, talking about ships capable of transporting that gas seemed like nothing more than a dream.

Today, we are close to seeing this become a reality in more Latin American countries. More than 15 years have passed since that image on the platform, and that is why this magazine is so special: I have searched through my memories, trying to weave them together and connect them. This project is the place where I aspired to find myself in the future; I did not know exactly how, but life has finally allowed me to bring together friends and collaborators to make it a reality. My greatest wish is that this work may, in turn, become someone’s joyful memory of a person who influenced and inspired them to change.

LNG México y Latinoamérica was born from the need to bring high-value information to professionals interested in the Liquefied Natural Gas ecosystem. We will do so through a modern approach, with an updated, innovative, and creative perspective that seeks to strengthen and consolidate the energy sector community. Our purpose is to become a point of union and convergence for the new generations who, with their drive, will lead the development of their countries in the future.

In this regard, Eduardo Dorantes Sevilla and I have brought together a group of internationally renowned specialists, composed primarily of women, so that through their perspectives we may deepen our understanding of Mexico and Latin America’s outlook on LNG.

Our journey begins by exploring the landscape of Latin America: its infrastructure, energy security, and reservoirs. We will analyze everything from natural gas treatment processes, liquefaction and regasification terminals, to its transportation by ships and pipelines. Our goal is to generate key reference material for decision-makers, explaining how geopolitics and trade dictate the rules of LNG. We will identify the opportunities in each country so that gas may transcend its use as fuel in power plants; all of this narrated by the women and men who are building the future with principles and a deep passion for an energy-filled tomorrow.
